Trea Turner Becomes 7th Player to Steal 3 Bases in Season Opener

Former NC State All-American Shortstop Trea Turner became only the 7th player in MLB history to steal three bases in a season opener yesterday.

  • April 7, 1978 – Davey Lopes

Turner stole 2nd base twice, and 3rd base twice in the #2 spot in the lineup behind Adam Eaton.

He also had 2 of the Nationals 5 hits in the game, with both of them coming off of Jacob deGrom. The Nationals ultimately lost to the Mets 2-0.

Turner stole 43 bases last year, and 46 the year before that.

The Nats will take on the Mets once again tomorrow at 1:05.
