NC State Stopped Paying Mark Gottfried’s Buyout in the Fall

According to a report by WRAL, NC State stopped paying former head coach Mark Gottfried’s buyout last August.

When the Wolfpack fired Gottfried with 4 games left in the 2016-17 season, he still had 3 years left on his contract, and was owed $2.28 million from the school (Base Salary – $760,000 X 3).

According to the WRAL report, NC State stopped paying Gottfried the remainder of his buyout back in the Fall due to being intertwined in the Adidas Corruption Scandal. Brad Bohlander, a spokesman for the university, did confirm that the school stopped paying Gottfried in August.

When NC State decided they had paid Gottfried enough money, they still owed him $520,000.

Had NC State continued with their payments, the last pay check would have been cut in April of next year.

Obviously, Gottfried and his attorney Elliot Abrams, want the rest of the money to end up in the bank account of the current head basketball coach of Cal State-Northridge.

We’ll have to wait and see how the dust settles.
