NC State Signee Jalen Lecque Receives Invite to NBA Combine

According to Jonathan Wasserman’s of Bleacher Report, NC State 2019 signee Jalen Lecque has received an invite to the NBA Combine.

It was expected that Lecque would be one of the 60-70 prospects invited to the 2019 NBA Draft Combine (May 14-19).

At the Combine, players are:

…measured and take medical tests, are interviewed, perform various athletic tests and shooting drills, and play in five-on-five drills for an audience of National Basketball Association (NBA) coaches, general managers, and scouts. Athletes attend by invitation only.

The athletic tests include a standing vertical jump, maximum vertical jump, bench press, three-quarter-court sprint time, lane agility time, and modified event time. Physical measurements include height with shoes, height without shoes, wingspan, weight, standing reach, body fat, hand length, and hand width. The shooting tests include spot-up three-point field goals from various distances (high school, college, and NBA) depending upon position, shooting off the dribble, and timed jump shots on the move.

Lecque is a 4-star prospect that 247Sports ranks as the #33 overall player in the 2019 recruiting class. He verbally committed to NC State on October 2nd of last year, and signed his national letter of intent in November.

Originally a member of the 2018 class, playing for Christ School (Arden, NC), Lecque reclassified to the 2019 class, playing a year of Prep ball up at Brewster Academy this year. Being 1 year removed from his high school graduation, Lecque is eligible for the 2019 NBA Draft.

Lecque still retains the ability to play college basketball at NC State if he goes through the process and decides otherwise.

If I read the rules correctly, Lecque has a little more time to figure out his decision. NC State point guard Markell Johnson has to decide by May 29th (NCAA Early Entry Deadline), but I believe Lecque has until June 10th (NBA Early Entry Deadline).
