WICHITA, Kan. – NC State baseball sophomore catcher Patrick Bailey has been named one of 14 semifinalists for the Buster Posey National Collegiate Catcher of the Year Award, announced by The Greater Wichita Area Sports Commission on Friday afternoon.

Bailey has served as the Wolfpack’s backstop for the past two years and has started in 53 games this season, helping lead his team to a 39-15 (16-12 ACC) record in the midst of the final weekend of regular season play.

Behind the plate he’s thrown out 29.3 percent of baserunners attempting to swipe a bag, and has committed just four errors on the season for a .990 fielding percentage. Offensively, he’s currently batting .300 with a .524 slugging percentage and .402 on-base percentage.

Three finalists will be announced June 3, and the winner will be announced at the 22nd Annual Greater Wichita Sports Banquet on June 27.
