Matt McKay is the Vegas Favorite to be NC State’s Starting QB

The biggest question heading into the 2019 season for NC State, is who will be the Wolfpack’s quarterback?

Three former 4-star prospects sit in the QB room, battling it out for the job.

• Redshirt Sophomore Matt McKay
• Redshirt Sophomore Bailey Hockman
• Redshirt Freshman Devin Leary

3-Star True Freshman Ty Evans also is in the lot.

According to the Vegas oddsmakers, McKay is the best bet to earn the starting job when August 31st rolls around.

Hockman has the next best odds, followed by Leary.

McKay is entering his third year in the program, which gives him an edge. Leary is heading into his second, while Hockman is heading into his 1st. While Hockman hasn’t been in NC State’s program as long, the former Florida State quarterback understands the demands of high level football, and knows what an intense position battle is like.
