PI EXLCUSIVE: Nick Farrar Talks NC State Commitment

3-Star 2020 Power Forward Nick Farrar verbally committed to NC State on Wednesday, and I caught up with him to get his take on his reasons for choosing to run with the Wolfpack.

Making his college decision on August 7th wasn’t random for Farrar. He coordinated this with Coach Keatts, so he could commit on the anniversary of his mother’s death, who passed away when he was 7 years old.

“I had talked to Coach Keatts about the offer and committing for a while, so it wasn’t really early. It was just something we had planned to do for the day my mother passed.”

Farrar is a local talent (Apex Friendship High School), growing up with the dilemma of which Triangle squad to pull for. At an early age he made the wrong decision, but eventually saw the light.

“I started out with UNC, but it wasn’t long before I fell in love with NC State.”

Wolfpack Head Coach Kevin Keatts has been straight up with Farrar, and he appreciates that.

Coach Keatts is straight up with how he feels about my game, what I’m good at, and what I need to work on. The program is great, and I know a lot of staff and players as well.

Keatts has encouraged Farrar to continue to work on toning his body, and developing his right hand.

Farrar is a stretch 4, which is a body type that thrives in Keatts’ offense.

“I think State works well with undersized 4’s. With good guard skills and post up skills, I would be a good fit in that system, being an inside-out guy.”
