Former NC State Safety Josh Jones has been released by the Green Bay Packers.

Things with Jones and the Packers have been tense for sometime. Back in May, Jones didn’t show up to Voluntary OTA’s, and requested a trade.

The Packers drafted Jones in the 2nd round of the 2017 NFL Draft, with the 61st overall pick. Jones started in 12 of the 29 games that he played for Green Bay the past two seasons, tallying 126 tackles, 3 sacks, 7 pass deflections and 1 interception.

Jones was unhappy with his playing time, and watched the Packers sign a veteran overtop of him, and draft a Safety in the first round.

Today, Jones went unclaimed through waivers, and is officially a free agent.
