Bucks Waive Former NC State Guard Trevor Lacey

Former NC State guard Trevor Lacey was signed by the Bucks 5 days ago, and was released 3 days later.

I’m pretty sure there was never a chance that Lacey was making the team. Lacey was likely signed to a Training Camp deal. It will be interesting to see if the Bucks sign Lacey to be on their G-League affiliate team.

Lacey played the past 4 seasons overseas after leaving Raleigh. He played his first two seasons professionally in Italy, and the past two years in Russia for Lokomotiv Kuban. It’s honestly rather shocking that Lacey picked up an NBA contract, considering the fact that he hasn’t exactly been blowing it up in Russia last year. He only averaged 5.6 points per game last year, starting in only 10 of 30 games.

With that being said, Lacey has shot the ball extremely well from beyond the arch overseas, shooting 43.5% last year, and 40.9% the year before.

The extent of Lacey’s contract is unknown at this point. Whether it is a regular NBA contract, or a 2-way contract hasn’t been revealed.

After averaging 16 points per game in one season at NC State, Lacey opted out of his final season to pursue his professional career. After going undrafted, he did experience a little bit of the NBA, playing in the Summer League his first two summers after leaving Raleigh.

Lacey left Lokomotiv Kuban in March to come back to the United States due to family issues.
