TJ Warren: ‘Suns Messed Up…Worth more than Cash’

Former NC State ACC Player of the Year T.J. Warren will play his first regular season game for Indiana tonight, after spending his first 5 seasons in Phoenix. Back in June, the Suns traded Warren to the Pacers, along with the #32 pick for cash considerations. Warren only ended up playing 1 year of his the 4-year contract in Phoenix that he signed prior to last season, worth $47 million. Tony Buckets averaged 18.0 points last year, and shot 42.8 percent shooting from 3-point land.

Warren has a little bit of a chip on his shoulder believing that Phoenix made a mistake, believing that he is worth more than cash.

When I saw it, I looked at it as a business. I’m grateful that the Pacers were able to make that transaction for me. When guys get moved, they want to show and prove the team that moved them wrong. I’m not mad at the Phoenix Suns, but they made the deal and I’m just excited to move on.

I’m ready to show the whole NBA — and not just the Suns for making the wrong decision — that the Pacers made the right decision. I’m worth more than cash considerations. It’s on me to prove it. But the Suns messed up. (Link)

T.J. will start for Indiana tonight as they open the season hosting Detroit at 7pm.
