Trea “Burner” Turner is 1 of only 7 former NC State players to play in the World Series.

Shortstop Trea Turner – 1 time (2019)
Infielder Jimmy Brown – 1 time (1942)
Pitcher Mike Caldwell – 1 time (1982)
Shortstop Adam Everett – 1 time (2005) (Transferred to South Carolina after 1 season)
Rightfielder Dave Robertson – 1 time (1917)
Pitcher Tim Stoddard – 1 time (1979)
Infielder Tracy Woodson – 1 time (1988)

Turner went 1 for 4 in the Nationals 5-4 victory over the Astros in Game 1 last night, with a stolen base that earned America a free taco at Taco Bell.

With his infield single to start the game, Turner became the first former NC State baseball player since Adam Everett in 2005 to record a hit in the World Series. Everett only played one season in Raleigh before transferring to South Carolina. The last player that finished their collegiate career at NC State to record a hit in the World Series was Pitcher Tim Stoddard in the 1979 World Series for the Baltimore Orioles.

Turner is only the 5th player in NC State history to record a hit in the World Series.

He also became the first Wolfpacker to win a World Series game since Third Baseman Tracy Woodson and the Dodgers swept the Oakland A’s in 1988.
