The 14th ranked NC State Women’s Basketball team won their season opener against North Carolina A&T 80-44 last night. At one point, the Wolfpack led by 44 points.

NC State was led by an electric freshmen duo of Jada Boyd and Jakia Brown-Turner. Both Boyd and Brown-Turner were 5-star prospects that were a part of the Wolfpack’s #8 2019 recruiting class.

Boyd finished with a team-high 18 points (5-7 FG) off the bench, along with 11 rebounds and 5 steals. Boyd scored all of her points in the 2nd half.

Brown-Turner started the game, and had 14 points (6-11 FG/2-5 3PT).

Junior Kayla Jones kept up with the young guns, matching Brown-Turner’s 14. She was 5 of 7 from the field, and 3 of 4 from deep.

Sophomore Elissa Cunane enters 2019-20 with a lot of expectations, and while she didn’t splash the box score, she did score 9 points in 13 minutes of play, making 4 of 5.

NC State will host UNCW on Sunday at 2pm.
