On Monday the 49ers released former NC State Cornerback Dontae Johnson.

Johnson signed with San Francisco on October 3rd of this year, and played in 5 games for them, recording 4 tackles (2 special teams).

This is Johnson’s 6th year in the NFL. He spent his first 4 years in the league in San Fran, after being drafted by them in the 4th round of the 2014 NFL Draft. Last season Johnson spent time in Seattle, Arizona, and Buffalo, but only played 1 game all year, battling injury.

Johnson started this season with the Niners, then was released before the season, played the first 2 games for the Chargers, was released, and picked up by San Fran again (3rd stint), only to be released for the 3rd time.
