The #14 NC State Women’s Basketball team crushed Lamar 81-40 last night, improving to 3-0 on the year.

The Wolfpack’s defense was paralyzing, holding Lamar to 22.2% shooting from the field, and 13,8% from beyond the arch. They have held their first three opponents to under 50 points, which they only did 5 times all of last season.

Redshirt Senior Grace Hunter tied for the team lead in scoring with 15 points off the bench. Before tearing her ACL last season in January, Hunter was the Wolfpack’s leading scorer.

Preseason All-ACC selection Elissa Cunane (Sophomore) had 15 points, as well as 14 rebounds. It was her 1st double-double the season, and the 5th of her career.

Junior Forward Kayla Jones ties Hunter with 15 points. She has been lights out to start the year, shooting 68.4% from the field, and 5 of 7 from three.

Junior Guard Kai Crutchfield put up double figures for the first time this season with 10 points.

Preseason All-ACC selection Aislinn Konig is off to a really rough start to her final year, shooting 5-26 from the field, and 2-20 from three. She still managed to find a way to contribute last night, dishing out 6 assists. Last season, Ace shot 40% from deep.

The Wolfpack host Maine next Tuesday at 10:30 am.
