The NC State Women’s Soccer team (11-6-4) handled business last night, defeating Navy (16-3-3) 3-0 to advance to the 2nd round of the NCAA Tournament for the 4th year in a row (12th overall).

Redshirt Sophomore Lulu Guttenberger’s goal (3) at the 55-minute mark proved to be the game-winner, scoring off a rebound of her own free kick.

NC State would score their 2nd and 3rd goal in the span of the 74th minute. Freshman Leyah Hall-Robinson (3) scored the second goal on a header off of a corner by Guttenberger. Sophomore Anna Toohey (1) scored her first goal of the season seconds later off of an assist from Senior Krissi Schuster.

The Wolfpack’s defense was stellar, not allowing a single shot on goal.

NC State will play 3rd seeded Arkansas on Thursday, November 21, in Provo, Utah, at 5pm. The Razorbacks rank 8th in both the Coaches Poll and the Top Drawer Soccer Top-25, and 6th in the RPI.
