#14 NC State Women’s Basketball Team Wins 1st Road Game Against St. Mary’s 87-70

The 14th ranked NC State Women’s Basketball Team (5-0) won their first road game of 2019-20 today, defeating Saint Mary’s (2-3) 87-70.

The Wolfpack benefited from a balanced offensive attack, with 6 players scoring in double figures. As a team, the Pack scorched the net, making 54.8% of their shots from the field, and 50% from beyond the arch.

Saint Mary’s 16 three-pointers kept the game from being a blow out.

Freshman Jakia Brown-Turner led the team with career high 16 points.

Junior Kayla Jones had a double-double, with 14 points and a career-high 11 rebounds.

Sophomore Center Elissa was 1 rebound away from making it 3 consecutive double-doubles, with 10 points and 9 boards.

Junior Guard Kai Crutchfield had a season high 12 points, along with 5 rebounds.

Freshman Forward Jada Boyd continues to shred the nets, scoring 13 points on 6 of 7 shooting. Through 5 games, Boyd is shooting 63.6% from the field.

Redshirt Senior Grace Hunter returned to action after missing the last contest, scoring 13 points in 26 minutes off the bench.

After missing all of last season due to a knee injury, Graduate Senior Kaila Ealey made season debut against Saint Mary’s, playing 11 minutes.

It’s worth noting that the Wolfpack out-rebounded Saint Mary’s by 20.

This weekend NC State will head play in the Hawaii Tournament, opening up Friday against Texas (3-2).
