NC State has Pride, Hatred and the Future to Play for Against UNC
NC State isn’t playing for a bowl today, so one might argue there is nothing to play for tonight against rival UNC at 7pm.
That’s false.
They will be playing for pride.
NC State has won the last 3 games, and has a chance to make it a 4-game winning streak for only the third time since the series began back in 1894. Dave Doeren holds a 4-2 record against the Tar Heels. The 12 Seniors that are being honored tonight have never lost to UNC, and no matter their record this season, going 4-0 against them would sit well in their mind for the rest of their lives.
They will be playing out of hatred.
UNC can pretend that NC State isn’t their rival. So be it. The Wolfpack has no problem hating them more.

They are playing for the future.
NC State has dominated the world of in-state recruiting the past couple of years, with Mack Brown back this year, the Tar Heels have taken an immediate hold of the state of North Carolina. A win here would help the prospects in the 2021, 2022 and future classes that NC State is still the football school of choice in the state.
