#12 NC State Women’s Basketball Defeats Hawaii & North Texas to Sweep Showdown

The 12th ranked NC State Women’s Basketball team picked up victories over Hawaii and North Texas to complete the Rainbow Wahine Showdown Sweep, after defeating Texas on Friday.

On Saturday, the Wolfpack beat Hawaii 68-59, with two players scoring 20+ points for the second consecutive game. Senior Guard Aislinn Konig scored 20+ for the second straight game, with 22 points and 6 assists, making 4 three-pointers for the second straight game as well. Sophomore Center Elissa Cunane also had 22 points, adding 11 rebounds, marking her 3rd double-double of the year.

This game was a bit closer than normal, allowing Hawaii to shoot 39.3% from three, making 11.

Yesterday, NC State beat North Texas 76-65, improving to 8-0 on the year. Cunane had a career day, posting her 2nd straight double-double, scoring 24 points and grabbing 19 boards. Both were career highs.

Junior’s Kayla Jones and Kai Crutchfield both scored in double figures as well, scoring 13 and 11 respectively. Freshman Jakia Brown-Turner had 6 assists.

NC State hosts #9 Maryland in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge this Thursday night at 7pm.
