UPDATED: In quoting the N&O article below, which states that the fraudulent ID that Wilson used was his brother’s, I connected that to Thayer Thomas, who isn’t even his brother in a moment of confusion on my part.. I apologize to Thayer and his family for making that assumption. It has since been redacted.

UPDATED: According tothe News & Observer, Wilson was consuming alcohol, which isn’t shocking considering he was charged for having a fake ID. Apparently Payton fled into traffic, was hit by a car, then proceeded to hide under another.

NC State Redshirt Freshman Linebacker Payton Wilson was arrested early this morning around 2am for possession of a fake ID, injury to personal property, and resisting a police officer.

Apparently this took place at 500 Glenwood Ave., which would either be Carolina Ale House or Vidrio.

NC State’s football program has yet to respond to the situation.

Wilson led the Wolfpack in tackles in his first year (69), becoming the first Freshman to do so since Jesse Campbell did so in 1988.
