247: Boykin & Vann Shine on Day 1 of Shrine Bowl Week
Yesterday was the first day of practice for the 2019 Shrine Bowl, and 2 NC State commits stood out according to Charles Power of 247Sports.
3. CB Devan Boykin, Jamestown (N.C.) Ragsdale – Boykin looked like the smoothest cover corner on Monday. The N.C. State commit has impressed at nearly every stop dating back to the spring and continued that, making some eye-catching plays on the ball, including a diving pass break up and an interception in the afternoon.
4. DT Davin Vann, Cary (NC.) – Vann looked like the best defensive lineman in attendance, maybe by a considerable margin. The three-sport athlete is a trim 270 pounds with long arms and moves very well. Working at nose and end in a three-man front, Vann blew up a few plays early in the morning session and was double-teamed for much of the remainder. The N.C. State pledge was carted off during the afternoon practice with an apparent ankle sprain but had a strong day of work. (247)
On the other side of the ball, NC State Wide Receiver commit Jalen Coit is representing the state of South Carolina.
The 2019 Shrine Bowl will be this Saturday at 1pm in Spartanburg, South Carolina. This marks the 83rd time that the best high school football players of North Carolina have faced off against the best players of South Carolina in the Shrine Bowl.
