FootballScoop: Des Kitchings Not Returning to NC State

FootballScoop is reporting that NC State Co-Offensive Coordinator and Running Backs Coach Des Kitchings will not be returning next season.

Co-offensive coordinator/running backs coach Des Kitchings is not anticipated to return to the staff, sources told FootballScoop on Saturday. Kitchings coordinated the offense alongside co-coordinator George McDonald (wide receivers), but Doeren is on the hunt for a new coordinator for the Wolfpack offense, sources say.

NC State finished 106th nationally in yards per play and 107th in scoring en route to a 4-8 campaign (1-7 ACC) in 2019, Doeren’s seventh in Raleigh. (FS)

Kitchings has been coaching the Running Backs at NC State since 2012, the year before Doeren arrived Raleigh. Last season was his first year serving as Co-Offensive Coordinator alongside Wide Receivers Coach George McDonald.

The odds weren’t high that NC State would have Co-Offensive Coordinators again, and the odds weren’t high that Kitchings and McDonald would both be back in Raleigh in 2020 either.

NC State needs to bring in a new guy with his own system.
