PackPros: Bradley Chubb 2020 Outlook

Published

on

Former NC State consensus All-American Bradley Chubb is excited to get back on the field after tearing his ACL in the 4th game of the season in 2019. He entered 2019 on the NFL Top-100 list at #82 after making numerous All-Rookie teams (PFF & PFWA) in 2018, and breaking the Broncos rookie record for sacks. His 12 sacks as a rookie were the 7th most in NFL history.

Chubb enters Week 1 as the Broncos starting Weakside Linebacker, but whether or not he’s ready to go this week is still unknown. Denver has already stated that they will ease him in on a gradual “snap count” to get him to 100%. Chubb hasn’t practiced 100% in over a week.

The Broncos are expected to ease Chubb into an every-down role as he returns from his 2019 ACL tear. The Broncos “don’t know exactly how long into the season” it will take Chubb to get to 100% health, and ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Chubb may not even play in the season opener. (Roto)

Unfortunately the pressure on Chubb will be high in 2020, with All-Pro Linebacker Von Miller seemingly being lost for the season after a “freak injury” in practice yesterday.

Chubb is entering the 3rd season on his 4-year $27.2 million contract, with the total amount of the contract being guarantee. As you can see below, a majority of Chubb’s contract is paid out in the form of signing and roster bonuses, with a base salary of $750,000 in 2020.
