NC State Football Announces 2020 Captains

NC State announced their four 2020 football captains heading into their 1st game on Saturday night. These captains were selected by player vote.

Graduate Redshirt Junior Tight End Dylan Autenrieth is the only returning Captain for NC State. He was named a captain in 2019, and despite missing almost all of last season due to injury, he retains the title. Autenrieth earned a 6th year of eligibility, and has 2 years remaining. The Tight End position is essential in the Wolfpack’s running game, and Autenrieth is the best blocking Tight End NC State has.

Redshirt Junior Linebacker Isaiah Moore was the Wolfpack’s 3rd leading tackler in 2019 behind Linebacker Payton Wilson and Free Safety Tanner Ingle. He earned 3rd Team Preseason All-ACC Honors by Phil Steele heading into this season. With 1,264 snaps under his belt, Moore is the 3rd most experience player on NC State’s roster. Moore has been a starter at Linebacker the past two seasons, and he is expected to do so again in 2020.

Junior Free Safety Tanner Ingle was NC State’s 2nd leading tackler in 2019 behind Linebacker Payton Wilson. No disrespect to Wilson, but Ingle sat out the season finale due to injury. Had he played, he would have almost definitely been the Wolfpack’s leading tackler in 2019, considering he finished with only 1 less than Wilson. Ingle is the 5th most experienced player on NC State’s roster, with 1,164 snaps to his name. He enters this year as a 4th Team Preseason All-ACC selection by Phil Steele.

Redshirt Junior Center Grant Gibson was the only player to start every game on offense in 2019. Gibson’s overall grade of 68.9 via ProFootballFocus in 2019 is the 4th highest of returning NC State offensive players. Offensive Coordinator Tim Beck spoke of how Gibson had gone above and beyond as a leader on the Offensive Line this offseason.
