Daniel Joseph After Wake: BULLETED

Defensive End Daniel Joseph spoke with the media after NC State’s season opening 45-42 victory over Wake Forest last night. You can watch it here, or check out the BULLETED breakdown below.

  • A strong fun game is integral to any defense.
    • When your offense is getting the run game going, it chews up a lot of time.
    • That’s more time to rest, regroup, make our corrections and make our adjustments.
It was great that we had that today.
  • I know these guys have had their history with Wake Forest.
    • I just wanted to come in and impact the game as best as I possibly could in a positive way.
  • It (his sack late in the 4th) was definitely crucial, but at the end of the day I kind of just take it as getting the job done.
    • My job is to get to the quarterback, so that’s what I had to do.
  • With everything we’ve battled and gone through, I was pretty confident in our team.
    • A lot of people don’t see what has been going on on the outside, but we know very well what we’ve gone through and we’ve done our very best to fight through that.
This game is another one of those tests, and we made sure we came through with a win.
  • Six-game losing streak, I did not know about that until just now when you said it.
    • So, I think that speaks for itself.
    • I didn’t really know very much about the losing streak.
  • Execute (on what was going through his mind when Wake was coming back).
    • I trust the coaches to make the right play call, and they trust us to execute that play call.
    • So on that 4th down or in the 4th quarter, it was a matter of just believing in the coaches to make the right call and believing in our ability and our preparation to execute those calls and those plays.
