Running Back Ricky Person spoke with the media after NC State’s season opening 45-42 victory over Wake Forest last night. You can watch it here, or check out the BULLETED breakdown below.

  • I’m speechless, honestly.
    • I’ve battled through a lot of injuries throughout my career.
    • I just kept faith in God.
    • My teammates encouraged me on a daily basis.
It was a long time coming for this moment, but it’s just game one.
  • A lot of credit to Coach Beck with all the offensive play calling.
    • We’ve been working this since the spring.
    • Credit to everyone who paid attention to the detail.
      • Like Coach was saying to us before the game, we need to take pride in our small details.
  • Credit to my offensive line.
    • Those boys did a great job upfront tonight.
  • I’m not going to sit here and say it was just like practice, but you work for it in practice and it becomes realistic in the game.
    • It just made it easier for me. My reads were there tonight.
  • I like the rotation that Coach has for us.
    • It keeps everyone fresh in the legs, so if one of us gets tired the other one can come in, and he’s fresh and ready to go and vice versa.
  • We’ve worked on it (his TD pass for Carter) constantly during practice.
    • I used to tell Coach Roper that I played quarterback in middle school, so I used to tell them to give me the opportunity.
    • We practice it at least 4 times throughout practice when we are on red zone days.
  • It was a great 1st win for us. We didn’t want to be beat. We don’t work that hard all offseason for that to happen. It was great.
