Final NOTES from NC State’s Victory Over Wake Forest

Before we turn our focus completely to Virginia Tech, here’s a few final odds and ends to note from NC State’s 45-42 victory over Wake Forest on Saturday.

Team

  • The 270 yards rushing were the most since NC State piled 309 on Western Carolina in Week 2 last year.
    • It’s the most rushing yards against an ACC opponent since rushed for 292 yards against UNC in 2017.
  • The Wolfpack only had 1 turnover. Since 2016, they are 13-4 when they have 1 turnover or less.
  • The 45 points were the most in a game since NC State scored 58 against ECU in 2018, and the most against an ACC opponent since they scored 51 against Louisville the same year.
    • The Wolfpack averaged 16 points per game against ACC opponents in 2019.
  • NC State scored touchdowns on their first three possessions since 2017 against Furman.
  • The Pack’s 6 sacks equaled their total in the final three games of 2019.

Individual

  • Sophomore Linebacker Drake Thomas’ 12 tackles were a career, topping his total of 8 against Wake Forest last year.
  • Redshirt Sophomore Payton Wilson’ 4 tackles for loss were a career high, topping his total of 2 against ECU last year.
    • He also recorded his 1st collegiate sack.
  • Sophomore Running Back Zonovan Knight scored on his 1st touch of the year, for the second straight year.
  • Sophomore Place Kicker Chris Dunn has connected on 12 consecutive field goal attempts, which is tied for the 3rd longest streak in school history.
  • True Freshmen Debuts: DL Nick Booker-Brown, WR Porter Rooks, CB Aydan White, LB Devon Betty, S Devan Boykin.
