NC State’s Red Zone Perfection

Oh what a difference a year can make.

Through 5 weeks of College Football in 2020, NC State is 1 of only 15 schools nationally that has scored every time they have entered the red zone. The Wolfpack has scored a touchdown on 11 of their 12 red zone attempts, which ranks 4th nationally.

Last year, the red zone was a place of agony for NC State, ranking 67th in red zone conversion, and 92nd in red zone touchdowns.

Against ACC opponents, the Wolfpack had a total of 10 red zone touchdowns in 2019. Through 3 games in 2020, NC State has already surpassed that total (11).

The Wolfpack has done it with balance, with 6 passing touchdowns and 5 on the ground.

Redshirt Sophomore Devin Leary, who hurdled to legend status last week against Pitt, is 5-7 with 3 touchdowns in the red zone in 1.5 games.

Offensive Coordinator Tim Beck has been able to make quick work resurrecting the Wolfpack offense, especially in the red zone.
