NC State vs. Wake | Gameday Preview and How to Watch

Preview of Wake:

Wake comes into this game at 6-10 on the year and only 3-10 in the ACC, putting them only ahead of Miami and BC in the ACC standings. The Demon Deacon’s last win came in a tight game against Boston College, followed that game with an OT loss to Florida State and then a blowout loss to a hot Duke team.

Wake is currently zero for their last 4 against the Wolfpack, losing earlier this season to the Pack by 5 points.  Though at Lawernce Joel Colesium, the Deacons are 2-2 in their last 4 games against the Wolfpack.

The Demon Deacons are led by Junior guard Daivien Williamson who torched the Pack for 22 points in their last meeting. Ian Dubose will also be back after missing the last matchup with an injury.  In his last 3 games back, he has scored 10 or more points and added senior leadership to Wake’s backcourt.

The return of Dubose will make today’s matchup a lot different than the last time these teams met. In that one,  State was able to force 20 turnovers and turn those into easy buckets.  Look for Wake to be a little more poised now that they  have their senior guard back on the court.

What’s on the line for NC State?

State is coming off a nice win against Pitt. In that one, we saw the freshman get thrown into the fire and come out with the victory.  It will be interesting to see the lineups Keatts goes with today, especially if Thomas Allen is able to suit up.  State needs this win to keep the momentum going into their matchup with Virginia next week, and also to keep any hopes alive for a late-season run.

Given last week’s performance, look for Keatts to give a longer leash to his freshmen.  Another win today could give this team the huge confidence boost they need to close out the season on a positive note.
