Another solid weekend for State athletics, especially in ACC Championships.

 

WRESTLING – 6 ACC TITLES
Five State wrestlers had their hand raised at ACC Champions. The Wolfpack also won the team championship by an astounding 24 points.

 

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL – W 68-61 VERSUS SYRACUSE
The Pack pulled off a 68-61 win in Syracuse to wrap up their regular season. Jada Boyd hit a double-double with Elissa Cunane putting up 17 points. They begin the ACC Tournament on Friday as the #2 seed.

 

MEN’S BASKETBALL – W 65-62 VERSUS PITT
Wasn’t pretty, but State extends their ACC win streak to four with a 65-62 win over Pitt. Jericho Hellems had a double-double and Manny Bates had six blocks to go with 10 points.

 

SOFTBALL – FOUR GAME SWEEP OF GWU
State softball took care of business against Gardner-Webb, winning 4-1, 6-0, 7-0 and 8-0. Senior Angie Rizzi finished the weekend with a double, two home runs and five RBI’s.

 

WOMEN’S SOCCER – W 2-1 VERSUS VCU
Pack women’s soccer stayed undefeated on the season (4-0-1) with goals from Mikhail Johnson and Cara Elmendorf, both assisted by Jameese Joseph.

 

MEN’S TENNIS – LOST TO #4 VIRGINIA, BEFORE BEATING VIRGINIA TECH 5-2
Wolfpack tennis split the weekend with mirroring 5-2 scores. Alexis Galarneau (#7 ranked singles player) won both individual and doubles matchups for both matches.

 

WOMEN’S GYMNASTICS – BEAT UNC AND TEMPLE
Wolfpack posted their highest score (196.200), while a Pack member won or tied in all four events.

 

SWIMMING AND DIVING – BOTH WOMEN’S AND MEN’S TEAMS PLACE 2ND
Close battles among all events, but State will take a pair of 2nd place team finishes into Nationals.
