Who Should State Fans Root For? UNC? Duke?

With UNC and Duke about to battle tonight (6pm, ESPN) we know you’re wondering, ‘Who should I be rooting for? UNC? Or Duke?’

This is a tough question…on one hand, I hate UNC…on the other hand, I hate Duke…

An asteroid…that’s who we should root for…

In all seriousness, this UNC/Duke matchup is big for State’s ACC Tournament seeding. In the simplest terms:

Duke Wins

State becomes the 10th seed and would go up against BC in first round, then the path becomes UNC and Florida State (thanks for choking!). This morning it seemed like the preferred option, when Virginia was the #2 seed. This complicates things. Do you skip a round and a game that’s “weaker” on a resume?

Did we mention the asteroid option?…

UNC Wins

State then jumps Duke to become the 9th seed and is immediately thrown into the ring against Syracuse, before a possible meeting with Virginia. This….seems doable. In the end, State needs to get quality wins, no matter the opponent.

So in the end, we’re still picking the asteroid…
