Virginia Tech and Their Coach, Mike Young

I had just gotten over the thought that Senior Day and a big Q1 matchup was cancelled Saturday, then VT news started breaking.

First, Mike Young was named ACC Coach of the Year, which is ridiculous. I’m not saying this to start a conspiracy theory (although I am), but it seems interesting how COVID seemed to pop-up for the following games;

vs ranked Florida State TWICE
Louisville
@ UNC
@ NC State

Seems like pretty big matchups skipped, no? Here is what ESPN said about his COY reasoning;

-Dealt with early opt-out of Cartier Diarra.  The dude was putting up an astounding 7 pts / 3 boards…
-Dealt with off-court issues. I mean Tyrece Radford was arrested, but that’s a positive reasoning?
-Dealt with injury to Jalen Cone. Just so you know… it was one game, and he’s their fourth best player.

Then, as if I couldn’t get more fired up, here’s what Young had to say about his team on MONDAY MORNING,

“We’re healthy. We’ve been healthy. We haven’t had a positive test in quite some time…These guys want to play.”

You. Have. To. Be. Kidding. Me.

So the team is all dandy, except for that game they were supposed to have less than 48 hours earlier? GTFO

ESPN’s Charlie Creme

This was the first thing Pack Insider threw out this morning. Creme is ESPN’s bracketology wizard for the women’s side. We could easily tune in next Monday and the committee disagrees with him, putting the Pack as a #1 seed. But just the thought that this is the dude’s only focus and yet he’s full of contradictions is beyond annoying.

NET is important? What about conference championships? What about beating top-ranked teams?

NC State: Net Ranking 7 | Won ACC Championship | 3 Wins over Top-5 Teams
Texas A&M: Net Ranking 12 | Lost in SEC Semifinals | 1 Win over Top-5 Teams

Yet State is a 2-seed, A&M is a 1-seed. Furthermore, he has Texas A&M solidified as third overall.  GTFO

My Co-Worker Refusing to Reschedule the Wednesday at Noon Meeting

First of all, I understand not everybody is a State grad. Secondly, some folks have no clue an important game is happening on a Wednesday, nor follow sports at all.

But…people that schedule meetings for noon are already on my hate list, regardless of day or week. That’s MY time to take an elongated break from pretending to act busy at my desk. GTFO
