Dereon Seabron was named ACC freshman of the week thanks to his 17 point, 15 rebound double-double performance in NC State’s win over Notre Dame.

If you haven’t been watching a lot of NC State, this may come as a surprise to you, but if you were paying attention, you knew this breakout was eventually coming. Only four games ago, Seabron put a similar lineup vs. Wake Forest, scoring 14 points and 9 boards in the win.

Seabron may seem raw at times, but he’s a lot more polished than people give him credit for. He’s got a good handle, he’s a great finisher at the rim with either hand and obviously, he’s 6’7. The question for Dereon was always about toughness and focus and it’s finally starting to click.
