Patrick Mahomes all smiles about Chiefs $80 million signing of former NC State star Joe Thuney

First off, congrats to Joe Thuney, the former NC State offensive lineman who just inked a 5-year, $80-million deal with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Thuney was one of the reasons why Tom Brady was never hit in New England and now is heading over to protect the guy Brady is likely passing the torch to as the best signal-caller in the NFL.

That guy is Patrick Mahomes.

The 25-year-old superstar already has one Super Bowl ring and may have had another if his line could have given him a little more time in the pocket. That is likely why Mahomes tweeted this out after the signing…

Thuney is a huge addition for the Chiefs, a team who had 5 different players play at least 100 snaps at guard last season. Thuney didn’t miss a single start in his five years with New England, so a steady presence on the line will be a welcomed sight for Mahomes.

In his time at NC State, things weren’t much different. During his senior season, the big man played every offensive snap in 8 of the 9 games he saw action in.
