The #1 NC State women couldn’t keep it rolling, and fell 73-70 to the #4 Indiana Hoosiers in the Sweet 16.

The loss is heartbreaking for a team that had National Championship dreams, and now will have to head home and use this loss as motivation for next season.

NC State was without starter Kayla Jones, who had to miss the game with a knee injury. Her teammates did their best to pick her up as Boyd, Cunane and Perez hit double digits, finishing with a combined 50 points.

They. also held Indiana to just 14% shooting from 3 point range. However, 17 turnovers and getting outrebounded 35-31 (8-3 on the offensive glass) did them in.

“We’re going to get over the hump. We’ve got to get over the hump,” NC State coach Wes Moore said after Saturday’s defeat. “So got to keep putting ourselves in this position, then hopefully close the deal and take advantage of it.” (ESPN)
