NC State Wrestling Creating Super Team

Just a month ago, State wrestling dominated the ACC Championships and had high hopes for Nationals. Falling one point short of fifth, thanks refs, State was in a moment of limbo on what the roster would look like for the next year.

Well…the boys are back…

Through beautiful teasers, Pack Wrestling announced that three HUGE names are returning for one more go at it, in weight classes that may very well suit them better.

Hayden Hidlay

The first domino may have been the biggest. The 4-time ACC Champ, 4-time All-American, one-half of the Hidlay Brothers Duo was back. What’s most “interesting” about Hayden’s return is; He’ll be at a more sustainable weight (the fight to lower weight was immense) and he and Trent are now on a warpath to be champs together.

“I love being able to compete with my brother. I want to give everything to my brother and the best way I can do that, is to move up to 174.” -Pack Mentality

For the first time in his State career, Hidlay will be able to strength train. In addition to cardio, speed and a better mental state? Hayden will have an adjustment period, but could absolutely excel at 174.

Thomas Bullard

The next piece was 165 wrestler, Thomas Bullard. The 4-time NCAA qualifier and recent third-place ACC wrestler, Bullard is a solid member of the squad.

Tariq WiIson

The long wait was well worth it. Tariq Wilson is maybe the most underrated wrestler on this whole squad. Each and every season, Wilson has improved, had a couple weight changes and still pushed forward. This year, he dominated the ACC Championships at 141, then finished third at Nationals.

In his return, Wilson will move up to 149.
