You always hope that a State alum will succeed at the next level. You feel for them even more when times get tough. Even though Rodón was called up in 2015, it’s been nothing but heartbreak and injuries. Until Wednesday night.

Rodón went the distance for a seven strikeout, no-hitter against the Cleveland Indians. He’ll now forever be linked to one of the greatest achievements in sports. Anytime Cooperstown calls you to ask for the ball, you’ve made it.

It hasn’t been easy for Rodón. In just the last couple of years, he’s pitched less than 50 innings with two arm surgeries. There were worries about his future in Chicago. With a losing record, although when he’s on he’s on as we can see, White Sox were only able to give him a one-year deal this offseason. Now he has a no-hitter.

And it somehow could have been better. A hit batter (but my lawwwwwddd, it was off the guy’s pinkie toe!!!) cost a perfect game with one out in the 9th. Luckily, like the warrior he is, he settled and completed the no-hitter. Even with his final batter, he was bringing 98 MPH heat.

The moment of glory…

Here’s Rodón after the game…

Should’ve never thrown that slider. Buried it too far in. They couldn’t do anything with his fastball. Still stinkin awesome!
