DJ Funderburk officially leaving NC State, entering NBA Draft

When the season finally ended, DJ Funderburk said the words “last game” in his post-game press conference.

With that clue, and numerous people close to the program telling us they expect DJ to forego his extra year of eligibility and enter the NBA draft, this was no surprise. However, it did take a lot longer to announce than we anticipated.

But as of a couple of days ago, Athletes Sports Management posted that they had signed DJ and he would be entering into the draft. That signing makes Funderubrk ineligible to come back, and closes out his career at NC State.

With that, we want to look back at the legacy he’ll leave here at NC State. This was a guy who was supposed to go to Ohio State, but things didn’t work out He then played at a junior college before signing on with Keatts upon his arrival.

Funderburk has played a huge role in NC State’s success over Keatts’ tenure, giving him a solid post-scoring option and a pretty good rebounder in the paint. He will finished his time at NC State averaging 11 points and 5 boards per game. He will likely go undrafted but we believe he’ll catch on with a G-League team if he decides to go that route. If he can hone his jumper, maybe we’ll see him in the NBA. Either way, we are thankful for DJ’s decision to spend his college career at NC State and we wish him luck in his pro career. We’ll, of course, be following along.

Here are some of his greatest hits from this past season…
