So what happens when you go 7-3 and lose your Bowl Game? YOU GET A RINGGGGGGG!
I’m well aware that UNC whooped up on State these last couple years. It should also be noted, however, we finished with the SAME record and had a beautiful 9 to 3 advantage in the previous dozen meetings. Yet I don’t remember dislocating a shoulder by patting ourselves on the back this hard.
I’m sure it’s to provide motivation to continue their success, but I just can’t imagine this moves the needle. If I’m a player, it’s awesome we beat State and Duke, but a damn ring?!
Imagine Brown heading into a recruit’s house…
Recruit: Looking with tilted head at Brown’s hand.
Brown: “Oh…I see you noticed…yeah, this is what you play for when you become a Tar Heel.”
Recruit: “Which bowl win was that from?”
Brown: “Well…ummm…we played in the Orange Bowl but this means more than that…it shows we played a football season.”
Recruit: Looks over at Dad, who is shrugging on opposite end of couch.
Brown: “You see son, to get degrees and rings at UNC…just need to get to around 70% and we’ll take care of the rest.”
