NC State’s Cunane Stands Out in Team USA Gold Medal Performance

USA beat Puerto Rico Saturday night, 74-59, in the AmeriCup Gold Medal game. For the past week, State’s Jakia Brown-Turner and Elissa Cunane lead Team USA to a 6-0 record.

Cunane had an incredible tournament. Beyond being named to the All-Tournament Team, she was top-10 in every major metric. Whether rebounds, scoring, 2-point field goal percentage or free throw percentage, Cunane ranked high among the entire tournament, even with sub 20 minutes a game. Through the six games, Cunane average 12.8 points, 8 boards, and 1 steal per game.

Brown-Turner ended with 4 points and 3 board average, although her playing time was second lowest on team.
