NC State with Solid Weekend of Sports

Four teams in action over the weekend, with more wins than losses.

Women’s Soccer

The Wolfpack beat up on UNCG 3-0 last Thursday before a nice 1-0 win over Elon on Sunday. Outshooting components a combined 34-5, all four goals came from different players.

State is now 3-1-2 on the season, with their single loss against $10 South Carolina.

Their next games are in Charlottesville, VA against Oklahoma and Penn State. The latter #7 in the country.

 

Men’s Soccer

State hosted the George Tarantini Classic at Dail Soccer Field and split the extended weekend. Friday they lost against #20 Seton Hall 3-1. With the game tied at halftime, Seton Hall was able to put to away while outshooting the Wolfpack 10-2.

Wolfpack rebounded on Monday with a big win over UCF, 2-1. A strong first half with goals from Bazini and Miller got the Pack back in the win column with a 3-1 overall record.

State’s next game is Friday at home and will open up ACC play against Clemson.

Volleyball

State volleyball played three matches Friday into Saturday. They opened the weekend on an absolute roll, sweeping  Wofford and East Carolina 3-0 each. The third game saw a back and forth contest with Colorado State. After the first two sets were split, the Rams were able to win both the third and fourth by the same, narrow 25-23 margin.

State, with a 2-4 record, now heads to Rutgers to face Brown, Rutgers and NJIT.

 

Football

State absolutely rolled USF in their season opener. In front of 53K at Carter-Finley, State put up over 500 yards of offense, forced multiple turnovers and will now look forward to a date with SEC’s, Miss State on Saturday night.
