Weekend Roundup – Sweep of Duke and Baseball Fall Game

We are now in the heart of Fall, when everybody is playing at the same time. It’s glorious. So let’s check-in across the athletic department for how teams played.

 

Women’s Volleyball

Saturday, the Wolfpack volleyball team came to play. A three-game sweep of Duke at home pushed State to 5-1 in their last six matches. Jade Parchment had 12 kills, Kristen McDaniel had 3 aces and Riley Shaak had 5 blocks, all leaders in their respective categories.

Overall the squad is 12-9, with road trips to Clemson and Georgia Tech this weekend.

 

Baseball

In their only scrimmage of the Fall, State baseball beat Duke 14-5 at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park. 26 different members of the team saw action. Complete breakdown found here.

 

Women’s Soccer

After a huge ten-day stretch beating ranked rivals UNC and Duke, the women’s soccer team split this weekend. Thursday they lost 1-0 on the road to Wake Forest, before returning home to beat Syracuse 3-0. Goals by Guttenberger, Kawagishi and Joseph. Keeper Echezarreta had 12 saves through the two games.

State is now 8-7-2 and wraps up the regular season with a road trip to Pitt on Thursday.

 

Men’s Soccer

Men’s soccer lost a back-and-forth game against Louisville on Friday, 2-1. Lone Wolfpack goal by Luke Hille, his fifth of the season.

State is now 6-7-2 on the year, with a final game remaining against Boston College at Dail Soccer Field this coming Friday.

 

Swimming

Both men’s and women’s squads dominated their weekend tri-meet against Kentucky and Auburn.

Men: Beat Kentucky 194-101 and Auburn 184-111
Women: Beat Kentucky 180-118 and Auburn 187-111

 

Football

#18 ranked Wolfpack fell to Miami 31-30. While a big loss, they still control their own destiny is they’re able to win out. Full breakdown coming later this morning.

 

Men’s Golf

After finishing first in the Wolfpack Intercollegiate, Wolfpack now heads Monday and Tuesday to the Williams Cup in Wilmington.

 

Cross Country had off before heading to ACC Championships this weekend in South Bend. Golf was off and plays in Wilmington this weekend.
