WRAL: ACC headquarters moving to Raleigh? Mayor is hoping so.
Would you look at this?
It was just a few weeks ago that the ACC announced that it planned to move its headquarters from Greensboro to a more popular hub.
There was some speculation that it would be Atlanta or Charlotte, however, don’t look now, but Raleigh is trying to get into the mix.
Raleigh wants the ACC headquarters. Which…sure…based on the bullet points the ACC probably paid a consultant half a mil to come up with, why not? However, the ACC doesn’t hold football or basketball championships here. They do in Charlotte tho. https://t.co/Yf0XpiHMkw

Raleigh mayor, Mary-Ann Baldwin was quoted by WRAL as saying this:
“Obviously we would like to have the ACC headquarters here. It’d be a great opportunity for economic development and job opportunities.”
Yeah, no duh, but the real question is, what is Raleigh willing to do?
Obviously, whoever lands this is going to likely have to put in a plan which includes some financial incentive, however, Raleigh will have NC State, Duke and UNC likely backing the push. Those schools and the Triangle itself are the epicenter of the ACC, so choosing Raleigh doesn’t seem like a stretch. At the same time, population hubs such as Charlotte and Atlanta may be more marketable from a PR standpoint.
Either way, its worth tracking as the ACC Board of Directors move forward in looking for a new home for the ACC Headquarters.
