Did Keatts Get the #1 PG in the Country to NC State?

Within the last 12 hours, four separate predictions have switched, having Robert Dillingham heading to Raleigh. While he very well could still end up in the NBA or Kentucky, Director of Basketball Scouting for 24/7 Jerry Meyer changed his crystal ball prediction last night to State.

A Lincolnton native, Dillingham currently is playing out west at Donda Academy (yes, Kanye’s school). Ranked 8th overall nationally, he’s the country’s top point guard recruit. How good? His composite score is .9966.

Dillingham announce his decision Wednesday afternoon.

Unreal Talent

Dillingham can do everything. In just his sophomore season, while still at Combine Academy, he averaged 21 points, 5 assists, 4 rebounds and 2 steals per game. The thin, 6′ 1″ guard is “perfect” for Keatts system that focuses on playing full court. The key would be offensive output.

In the Finals of the 2021 FIBA Under-16 Americas Championship, he went for 31 points, 6 boards, 4 assists and 3 steals to win gold. Did we mention he can do everything? Handles the ball so, so well. Clean stroke on his shot. Without a doubt, will be a standout at any level.

Even just this week he dropped another 31 points for Donda at the Grind Session over Our Savior Lutheran.

But What Next?

Still a lot of questions. If Dillingham skips college to enter draft, it will be Keatts’ third recruit to do so. It would also signal Keatts is looking for class rankings, not actual sustainable talent. You can’t average a recruit a year leaving for the NBA.

It will also be interesting if Dillingham does in fact choose and commit to State, what that means for the program. One of the best recruits ever, with ties to Kanye, showing up in Raleighwood? The massive haul would immediately put State on more radars of recruits and elevate the program’s standing.

We gonna replace our Adidas and get Yeezy kicks? Is State gonna land the big one? We’ll find out in one day’s time.
