The Two Most Likely Bowl Games for NC State

Published

on

As we hit championship weekend across the country, some things are beginning to fall into place. While we’d all love to be talking Charlotte right now, and no, not the Duke’s Mayo Bowl, it seems as though two landing spots for the Wolfpack have emerged.

80% Chance – Cheez-It Bowl (Orlando)

There are three tier-1 ACC bowls. One of them is the Gator Bowl, but with State recently there, that’s out. The leader then becomes the Cheez-It Bowl in Orlando. State would face a Kansas State or Iowa State out of the Big 12. The one hold up could be if the Bowl committee likes the idea of a short travel for a big fanbase like Clemson. While State beat the Tigers and have a leg up, money talks. All that to say, Clemson could just as easily head to Jacksonville for the Gator Bowl.

20% Chance – San Diego Credit Union Holiday Bowl

The other “tier 1” landing spot for the ACC is out in Cali. Most likely opponent would be UCLA out of the PAC-12. Good news, we get to hangout in San Diego. Bad news, we have to travel all the way to San Diego.

Other Possibility

New Years Eve’s Sun Bowl has also been thrown around. Miami, however, seems to be in line for that.

What’s most crazy, out of all the conferences other than SEC, ACC will have the biggest bowl presence. For a conference that started the season as absolute trash, they all pulled themselves together enough to make it a good postseason showing.

We’ll find out all the details at the end of this weekend.
