You Want Big Time Wrestling? How about #5 NC State Versus #1 Iowa?

It’s been known for years now, that State is building something special on the wrestling mat. They’re streaking with ACC Championships and continually ranked nationally.

Now it’s time for the BIG show.

Tuesday afternoon in Florida, NC State will wrestle unanimous (well, one vote away) #1 Iowa. The last and only time they met previously? State went to Iowa and won in 2016.

Coach Pat joined Packer and Durham to talk about the magnitude of this dual.

Most Entertaining Match? 149: #8 Max Murin vs #3 Tariq Wilson

Really looking forward to this one. Little bit of a bummer that Murin lost in OT yesterday, but fantastic matchup regardless. Wilson won both matches Monday, taking control against Binghamton’s Lombard 9-4, before grinding out an 11-8 win against Mizzou’s #18 ranked Edmond.

Wilson has the length and strength to get a win tonight. Murin is vulnerable when he gets moving around the map. Find the angles and attack.

Most Something to Prove Match?  125: #1 Spencer Lee vs #5 Jakob Camacho

Just going to say it…Spencer Lee is a beast and a half. Now that that’s out of the way…

Camacho is easily the best competition that Lee has face this year (granted, Lee only just returned to competition yesterday). Still don’t think we’ve seen the best of Camacho, but he presents a skillset that can give him a chance.

Most Rockstar Level Match? 174: Nelson Brands vs #5 Hayden Hidlay

Hayden needs BIG points here. Hopefully Trent also wrestles for a win, but if this match somehow goes wrong, it’s over for State without a doubt. Hayden came back for these kind of moments; center mat to get State wins.

In the end, Iowa should win this…but you steal a match or two (as Ed Scott did yesterday) and things change rapidly.

Wrestling starts at 6pm and can be watched through Rokfin.
