Wait…Could the Colts Bring Philips Rivers Back?

We know your head is spinning with talk of Covid and football. It’s been a long, long 24-hours…

So how about some good rumors?

Monday, Colts announced that starting quarterback Carson Wentz had tested positive. It was then projected into the Twitterverse, that Colts should call the one man we all know and love. The one man that could step in and keep playoff and AFC South title hopes alive…Mr. Philip Rivers.

Rivers retired last year, moving down south to coach high school football. Yet after watching Ian Book step in as the Saints’ fourth string QB, Colts maybe have a little cold feet. That’s right, maybe the Colts would rather have Rivers come straight out of retirement, than see if a no name could somehow pull off a win without getting killed. Plus, not all that bad handing the ball off to Taylor, while Hines waits for dump off passes.

Zak Keefer of The Athletic, actually went as far as to say the idea was discussed internally.

Colts currently sit at 9-6 in the top wildcard spot, only a game behind Titans. Somebody will have to be the Colts QB, but will it be Rivers?
