As the 2022 NFL season approaches, here’s a look at where former NC State players rank in Career NFL Defensive Statistical Categories.

Career Tackles

  1. Stephen Tulloch – 959
  2. Adrian Wilson – 903
  3. Dewayne Washington – 807
  4. Vaughan Johnson – 669
  5. Brian Williams – 508
  6. Manny Lawson – 471
  7. Ray Agnew – 451
  8. Jesse Campbell – 404
  9. Mario Williams – 399
  10. Bobby Houston – 327
  11. David Amerson – 272
  12. Germanie Pratt – 256
  13. Terrence Holt – 244
  14. Josh Jones – 227
  15. Dontae Johnson – 214
If Pratt were to match his 2021 total of 91 tackles, he would jump up 2 spots, claiming 10th place. If Johnson matched his 30 tackles from last year, he would finish the season tied with Holt in 13th.
Career Sacks

1. Mario Williams 97.5
2. Ron Carpenter – 45.5
3. Willie Young – 32
4. Darwin Walker – 28.5
5. Mike Jones – 27.5
6. Mark Thomas – 27.0
7. Adrian Wilson – 25.5
8. Manny Lawson – 24.5
9. Ray Agnew – 22.5
10. Bradley Chubb – 20.5
11. Stephen Tulloch – 14.5
11. Bobby Houston – 14.5
13. B.J. Hill – 13

If Chubb can stay healthy, he is more than capable of having a double-digit sack season in 2022 (he had 12 as a rookie). If he were to do that, he would move from 10th to 4th by seasons end. Hill had 5.5 years in 2021, and if he were to match his total, he would pass Houston and Tulloch, moving up to 11th.

Career Tackles for Loss

1. Mario Williams – 121
2. Adrian Wilson – 81
3. Stephen Tulloch – 60
4. Manny Lawson – 58
5. Willie Young – 44
6. Darwin Walker – 38
7. Bradley Chubb – 29
8. Brian Williams – 23
9. Corey Smith – 17
9. Nate Irving – 17
11. B.J. Hill – 16
12. Dewayne Washington – 15
13. Mark Thomas – 14
13. Germaine Pratt – 14
15. Justin Jones – 12

Chubb has only really had 2 healthy seasons (2018 & 2020) in 4 seasons. Between those two years he averaged 12.5 tackles for loss. If he were to collect 12.5 tackles for loss in 2022, he would jump Darwin Walker, moving into 6th. Hill had 6 tackles for loss in 2021. If he were to match that total in 2022, he would hurdle Irving and Smith, moving into 9th. If Pratt matched his 5 tackles for loss from last year, he would hurdle Thomas, Washington, Irving and Smith (and possibly Hill). Jones also had 5 last year, and if he matched those numbers he would jump Thomas & Washington, and tie Smith and Irving.

Career Interceptions

  1. Dewayne Washington – 31
  2. Adrian Wilson – 27
  3. Joe Scarpati – 25
  4. Claude Gibson – 22
  5. Brian Williams – 19
  6. Perry Williams – 18
  7. Eric Williams – 10
  8. David Amerson – 9
  9. Terrence Holt – 8
  10. Jesse Campbell – 7
  11. Juston Burris – 6

Burris had one pick last year, and if he were to grab one more this year, he’d break the top-10, tying Campbell.
