4-Star 2023 Guard Silas Demary Jr. (6’5/180), out of Combine Academy (Charlotte, NC), has scheduled an Official Visit to NC State on September 9th. We caught up with him to talk a little bit about his recruitment prior to the visit and asked a few questions to help Wolfpack fans get to know him.

PI: What would you say you are looking for in a school? Is location a factor? Is playing time a factor? Is style a factor?

SDJ: What i would say I’m looking for in a school is can I come in and play right away, are you guys winners, and would I love playing in that schools environment every home game, also the location isn’t too much of a factor to me and style definitely I like to get out and play fast, have great use of the ball screen action and also get after it on the defensive end.

PI: What style of play do you feel your game fits best with?

SDJ: The style of play that fits best is playing fast use of ball screens and getting after it on the defensive side

PI: What style of coach do you feel most comfortable playing for? A player’s coach who gives more free reign, or a coach who is going to stay on you and push you?

SDJ: I would say the best style of coach is having a little bit of both. Getting on you, but also letting you have some freedom as well.

PI: What is your timeframe for a decision?

SDJ: A timeframe for a decision is trying to know where i wanna go before the high school season starts

PI: What are your biggest strengths as a player? What do you feel you need to work on most for the next level?

SDJ: I would say my biggest strengths are being a lead guard, getting downhill playing through contact, getting to the free throw line, and also being able to create my own shot and I feel like what I need to work on most is to just be more consistent from three off the catch and dribble.

PI: We spoke to your dad recently, how much has he been an influence in your life and in your game?

SDJ: He’s been a big influence ever since I stopped playing football. He just encourages me, keeps me grounded and most importantly he’s my biggest supporter other than my mom.

PI: We heard you are a top-tier student with a 4.0 GPA. How are you able to balance things while being a top athlete as well? What motivates you to stay on top of things in the classroom?

SDJ: I’m able to balance things by having good time management making sure I know what my day looks like then breaking everything down , and what motivates me is that I know I can’t go anywhere I would want to without grades so that’s my motivation.
We will be catching back up with Silas after his visit to NC State to ask him a little more about his history with this staff, and how his recruitment is going with NC State.
