Former NC State Safety Juston Burris Added to Panthers Practice Squad

Former NC State Safety Juston Burris has been added to the Panthers Practice Squad after being released by Carolina yesterday. Honestly, the release was a shock, because throughout all of Fall Camp, he was expected to make the 53-man roster. Injuring his ribs in the preseason might have been a factor.

Burris was drafted by the New York Jets in the 4th round of the 2016 NFL Draft, and has played in 75 games (31 starts) over 6 seasons, on 4 different teams.

In March, Carolina signed Burris to a 1-year contract worth up to $1.18 million, but I think he only received $40,000 of that as a Workout Bonus.

Over Burris’ first 6 seasons in the NFL, he has earned a total of $10.89 million.

Here’s a look at Burris’ stats at NC State:

Here’s a look at what Practice Squad players make in the NFL.

Practice squad players make $11,500 per week or $207,000 for 18 weeks. Veteran players with over two years of experience will make a minimum of $15,400 per week or $277,200 for 18 weeks, and a maximum of $19,900 per week or $358,200. (Link)
