NC State Tight End Trent Pennix Out 4-6 Weeks

NC State head football coach Dave Doeren revealed that starting Redshirt Junior Tight End Trent Pennix will miss 4-6 weeks due to an injury in the season opener at his weekly press conference today.

“Trent Pennix will be out 4-6 weeks. He’ll be back this season. It just depends on the healing process. I’m not gonna get into the details of what it is, but it is good news that he will be back with us this season, so we’re thankful for that.”

Realizing that he was hurt on Saturday, Pennix kept his head held high.

While I am no doctor, it looked to be a wrist, or at least a lower arm injury as he walked to the locker room holding his arm.

Even though Pennix exited Saturday’s game early, he finished with 2 receptions for 25 yards, and 4 targets.

Pennix entered 2022 as one of the Top-5 Tight Ends entering the ACC. His absence will mean that Chris Toudle’s role will obviously increase. This will also be an opportunity for the young tight ends Kam Walker, Cedric and Fred Seabrough to step up and shine.
