Pack Pros: NFL Week 1 Report

This past weekend was the kickoff of the 2022 NFL season. Below is a breakdown of how the 19 former NC State players on NFL rosters did.

Linebacker Bradley Chubb had 6 tackles, 2 sacks, 2 tackles for loss, and 1 forced fumble in the Broncos’ 16-17 loss to the Seahawks.

Linebacker Germaine Pratt had 8 tackles, 1 tackle for loss and 1 pass breakup in the Bengals 20-23 loss to the Steelers.

Wide Receiver Jakobi Meyers had 4 receptions for 55 yards (both led the Pats), and was targeted a team-high 6 times, in New England’s 7-20 loss to the Dolphins. He also rushed the ball 1 time for 7 yards.

Defensive Tackle B.J. Hill had 3 tackles, 1 sack and 1 tackle for loss in Cincy’s 20-23 loss to Pittsburgh.

Quarterback Jacoby Brissett was 18 of 34 for 147 yards and a touchdown in Cleveland’s 26-24 victory over Carolina, leading them down the field for a game-winning drive at the end of the game. He also rushed the ball 4 times for 10 yards.

Safety Josh Jones had 7 tackles in Seattle’s 17-16 victory over Denver.

Running Back Nyheim Hines had 6 receptions for 50 yards, and rushed the ball 3 times for 4 yards in the Colts’ 20-20 tie with the Texans.

Wide Receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling had 4 receptions (4 targets) for 44 yards in the Chiefs’ 44-21 victory over the Cardinals.

Defensive Tackle Kentavius Street had 2 tackles in the Saints’ 27-26 victory over the Falcons.

Defensive Tackle Justin Jones had 2 tackles and 1 pass breakup in the Bears’ 19-10 victory over the 49ers.

In his first NFL game, Rookie Punter Trenton Gill averaged 46.2 yards per punt (6 punts), pinning one inside the 20, and booting one 58 yards in Chicago’s 19-10 victory over San Francisco.

Also, he was called for an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty for wiping off the ball with a towel…never seen this one before.

Punter A.J. Cole averaged 52.0 yards on 2 punts in the Raiders’ 19-24 loss to the Chargers. He pinned one inside the 20, and one of the punts went for 56 yards.

Defensive End James Smith-Williams had 2 tackles in the Commanders’ 28-22 victory over the Jaguars.

Cornerback Nick McCloud had 2 tackles in the Giants’ 21-20 victory over the Titans, but then had to leave the game with a hamstring injury.

Defensive Tackle Alim McNeil had 1 tackle in the Lions 35-38 loss to the Eagles.

Cornerback Dontae Johnson was inactive in San Francisco’s 10-19 loss to Chicago.

Center Garrett Bradbury (Vikings), Tackle Ikem Ekwonu (Panthers) and Guard Joe Thuney all started and played 100% of the snaps in their games in Week 1.
